Klopp expecting a hot reception for Van Dijk at Southampton

11 Febrero 2018

HUDDERSFIELD, ENGLAND - JANUARY 30: Georginio Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool warm up prior to the Premier League match between Huddersfield Town and Liverpool at John Smith's Stadium on January 30, 2018 in Huddersfield, England. Jack Stephens is one of the first names on the team sheet for the Saints and he should be partnered with Wesley Hoedt, who is still learning the English game, in his first season at the club.

"I'm very happy here at Liverpool and I do not see myself out of that club for years to come".

"I don't think it was too early when we did it, but it happened twice so we need to settle a little and then use Adam".

"I don't know exactly but probably it will not be the most friendly", the manager replied. I would rather think not at the moment, ' Klopp added.

Former Southampton players Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Dejan Lovren are all likely to be involved but fellow ex-Saints Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne remain on the sidelines. "We can have him this afternoon as well but then Porto, there's a chance", stressed the gaffer, before moving on to Ragnar Klavan.

Moreover, a last-gasp equalizer from Tottenham Hotspurs in the last matchday has further put an enormous pressure on the German who was in search of a silverware this season.

'He is for an option for the squad, if he is an option for first 11?

His current contract expires in 2020, and he had this to say about the transfer speculation that has come up around him: "In every transfer window we hear a lot of speculation, but nothing concrete has come to me until now". The FA is still in the process of interviewing witnesses, and the investigation appears to be slow-going.

The arrival of Van Dijk from Southampton is a statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp who wants to reshuffle his error-prone defence.

"He [Leitert] brings in all the information he can get, but that is all".

However, Liverpool haven't conceded in any of their last three Premier League games against Southampton.

"It is not the most lucky season and of course there is a kind of frustration in him", said the Reds boss.

'I spoke to him about that, he's not happy about it, ' said Klopp.

Firmino also went on to back the project that Jurgen Klopp is slowly piecing together at Liverpool, believing that something special is on the horizon for the Reds.

Virgil van Dijk is getting used to being the centre of attention.

Roberto Firmino has admitted that he envisages his long-term future at Liverpool. He is a very important player, a connecting player, a finisher, a fighter, a defender, the first defender - that is important. We really think much more about the football game and what we have to do and not about how we can avoid different situations from outside because we don't have influence.
