Donald Trump Just Called Himself 'A Very Stable Genius'

To Trump, that wasn't that different from life in Trump Tower - where he liked the decor better.

Mercer's statement comes after Bannon infuriated Trump for providing author Michael Wolff with disparaging comments about the president, his family, the administration and the campaign in the newly released book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. "Look at this guy's past and watch what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!"

President Trump has unsurprisingly been a vocal critic of the book and its author. American journalist and author Wolff tweeted: "Here we go. Thank you, Mr President".

Earlier on Thursday, Trump had lambasted Wolff's book on Twitter.

"I wouldn't say it is like a Harry Potter release party, but for a political book I haven't seen anything quite like this", said Len Vlahos, co-owner of the Tattered Cover Book Store.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders is criticizing former White House adviser Steve Bannon, saying "we've seen a side that is frankly very, very disappointing". "I never understood how he knew these people and ended up choosing them". He said he spent about three total hours talking with the president.

Some of the claims in Wolff's book include Trump's belief that he was not going to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, and that his wife, Melania Trump, was upset when did win.

In the last few days, many of the top supporters and funders of Bannon have deserted him after Trump in a strongly worded statement said that Bannon had "lost his mind" and that he had nothing to do with his presidency. "I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius.and a very stable genius at that!" I never sought one.

The First Couple were said to have separate bedrooms and the President wanted a lock for his room, much to the annoyance of the Secret Service.

Justin Bethel, manager of the Politics and Prose bookstore, said its 30 copies sold out quickly.

"The drama is really what's driving interest", she said.

Mr Trump has dismissed the book as full of lies.

Excerpts from Michael Wolff's book, repeated often in the liberal media, say sources close to the president claim he is forgetful and doesn't have the intellectual capacity to grasp the complex policy and politics of being president.
