Balague comments on Malcom to Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal speculation

"Poor old Arsenal. After Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie, it looks like they are going back to the bad old days of selling their best player".

"But in relation to Alexis Sánchez I don't say a word". The Chilean has never won the Premier League and by switching to the Etihad Stadium he is all-but guaranteeing himself a winner's medal in May.

It's easy to see why both Manchester clubs would want him.

Manchester City's pursuit of Alexis Sanchez appears to have hit a stumbling block, with the club apparently unwilling to match Arsenal's valuation of the Chilean.

Sanchez's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Wenger could lose his most valued player on a free transfer if he is not sold in January.

Arsene Wenger's initial intention had been to loan him out, but he has changed his mind.

But we shouldn't rule out the possibility of Sanchez - and Arsenal, who you imagine would be reluctant to sell him for nothing in the summer - eventually accepting the offer tabled by City, currently playing a game of 'who blinks first' with the Gunners. I think Sanchez provides the quality, the goals and the world-class ability he has got.

But City, building rapidly under Roberto Mancini, entered the race - ironically after failing to persuade Sanchez to reject Barcelona and join them from Udinese - and outbid United in terms of the transfer fee, player wages and agent costs. We are not on that case at the moment. It means Sanchez would not necessarily be guaranteed to start every week.

Alexis Sanchez could be heading towards Old Trafford.

Quizzed on whether selecting Iwobi sent a mixed message on team discipline, Wenger said, "There's one thing to punish someone individually and a second thing to punish everybody".

Wenger reported that Jack Wilshere was "not out yet" of Sunday's game at Bournemouth, having had positive news on the ankle he turned at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Bordeaux want around £45million for the 20-year-old in January and Tottenham have opted to prioritise other targets.

The runaway Premier League leaders are extremely reluctant to go above the £20m they value Sanchez at given his current contract situation. Pies can't envisage Arsenal dropping the vast wad required, even though the prospect of a Lacazette-Aubameyang front pairing with Mesut Ozil in behind is incredibly enticing. I don't know for sure but probably this weekend he is going to wear Arsenal colours. This is silly season - anything can happen.

Below is a photoshop of Sanchez in a Man United Jersey. If that's not enough to turn down millions of pounds and the promise of multiple trophies, then there's not much more to add really.
