We must improve to be World Cup champions: Messi

08 Diciembre 2017

Messi, speaking to TyC Sports, said: "If we do badly at the World Cup, we all have to disappear from the national team".

Danny Rose has been involved in altercations with Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, for a while now and reports in England point to a possible move in the coming year.

Messi along with his Argentine teammates have failed to end La Albiceleste's drought, losing in two successive Copa America finals - in 2015 and 2016, and also finishing runners to Germany at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. I think this period off international duty was good for him, though, as he has been able to focus on training and improving his fitness levels. "I have learnt that the season is long and that there are times which are harder because the years fly by and now my body pays the price fof playing so many matches", Messi admitted. We are the first ones to want to win with the national team.

Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has reacted to manager Ernesto Valverde dropping him for the second consecutive Champions League fixture.

'I understand Masche. The best thing is to play and enjoy yourself, and he doesn't think he'll get minutes here'.

"I would have to review them to see what we did wrong so we don't repeat them". Messi, however, believes they should have celebrated at least two victories.

Argentina have been drawn in Group D at the World Cup alongside Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria.

Messi said: "Mascherano? I'm not going to tell you what he told me, but I'll understand if he leaves, he wants to play more". The 30-year old's contract was set to expire in the summer, leading to speculations over his future with former manager, Pep Guardiola, on the horizon at Manchester City.

Jorge Sampaoli's side almost did not qualify for the tournament, but a Messi hat-trick in their final qualifier against Ecuador secured their spot in Russia. "We don't feel that way".
