Border Patrol agent killed in 'ambush' laid to rest in El Paso

27 Noviembre 2017

Chris Cabrera, a spokesman for the National Border Patrol Council, told The Associated Press that agents responding to the scene called it "grisly".

Martinez's U.S. flag-draped coffin was carried by Border Patrol pallbearers in green uniforms while bagpipes played.

Attorney General Jeff Session was scheduled to attend the funeral but it was not clear if he was there. His partner, whose name hasn't been released, was seriously injured.

A Border Patrol agent was laid to rest Saturday following his mysterious death at the bottom of a culvert in the Texas desert. "However, just from agents that were working in the area, reports are saying it was an attack and it would appear to be an ambush", said Judd, who added, "there's a high likelihood this was an assault on the agents". The official spoke on condition of anonymity and is not authorized to speak publicly.

After the death of Martinez, his father told the El Paso Times that his son loved his job. "God bless you, '" the father said.
