South Korea conducted its first live-fire drill for an advanced air-launched cruise missile on Wednesday, it says the missile will strengthen its pre-emptive strike capability against North Korea in the event of crisis.

"The four islands of the archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche".

The State Department on Tuesday praised new sanctions on North Korea passed by the United Nations Security Council, hours after President Donald Trump dismissed them. "It's quite a big break from past Chinese responses, and meaningful", the source said on the condition of anonymity.

"Japan is no longer needed to exist near us", the committee added.

The former NATO supreme allied commander, James Stavridis, has claimed that the most effective way to discourage North Korea's ambition to develop nuclear weapons is a naval blockade.

Japan's top government spokesman, Yoshihide Suga, described the statement as "extremely provocative and egregious".
