'Really struggled' - Carragher slams Liverpool midfielder after Man City defeat

Goalkeeper Brad Jones will be remembered in England for spells with Middlesbrough and Liverpool while midfielder Karim El Ahmadi was at Aston Villa from 2012-14 and scored one of his three Premier League goals against City.

City goalkeeper Ederson was involved in a nasty collision with the Liverpool forward during the first half of the Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.

The 31-year-old has experienced muscle wounds in late seasons and City are probably not going to go out on a limb with his wellness.

Liverpool appealed against the length of the ban, with both the player and boss Jurgen Klopp insisting the challenge was not intentional.

"I actually never thought it would happen but only because I am used to things like this; it is not an English thing".

Jesus had a header from a curling De Bruyne cross from the left ruled out for offside but moments later the pair combined again in almost identical fashion to make it 2-0 at the break. I think he didn't even know that the 'keeper was that close to him.

\Liverpool have the option to claim that the ban represents excessive punishment and intend to do so, Press Association Sport reports. If people blame me for this no problem, but it was a decision taken for the season.

I hope and I wish a speedy recovery to Ederson.

"He's fully focused on the ball, he's trying to get a toe to the ball to flick it over the keeper". The third change saw Kyle Walker return from suspension, with Bernardo Silva dropping to the bench.

Ex-Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher took a different view, saying "he had his eyes on the ball, but that doesn't mean he isn't endangering an opponent".

"Tomorrow we have another competition and we worked so long and hard for it and we plan to put all what we have in this game".

"Ederson has got on with it straight away", Stones said. I don't blame the ref for the decision. He was present at the ground, but was restricted to a spectator role in the stands.

It means that the Merseysiders have dropped to seventh in the league table, three points adrift of Guardiola's second-placed side.
