Clayton Kershaw helps Dodgers end 11-game skid, wins 17th

13 Setiembre 2017

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Curtis Granderson will bat leadoff against the San Francisco Giants on Monday. "I got the text from (manager Bruce Bochy) earlier today and I thought it was a joke at first". "With somebody as good as Kershaw, you've got to play your best ball, and we didn't do that". They may win the World Series and let Darvish walk, or they might get swept in the NLDS and go into panic mode. The 1944 Brooklyn team lost 16 straight games.

Despite the recent tailspin, Los Angeles still owns the best record in the majors at 93-52.

A win is win, but it definitely feels good knowing that the Dodgers finally got over that slump and have clinched a spot in the playoffs! Playing it cool went to the side tonight. It was Posey's 20th career steal and his sixth this season.

Kershaw (17-3) tossed six innings and tied Milwaukee's Zach Davies for the major league lead in wins.

Holidays in Denver: Trips to Coors Field are always quirky, but the 2018 schedule includes an odd twist for those Denver visits.

Of course, Stratton was done for the night. "Tonight wasn't easy. Nothing about these past two weeks has been easy so we shouldn't have expected this one to be easy". It was a full team effort. The 90-loss year is their first since 2008 and it has included so many nights like this one.

Los Angeles, which won for the first time since topping San Diego on Sept. 1, holds a 4 1/2-game lead over Washington for the best record in the National League after the Nationals lost 8-0 to Atlanta. That weekend series would be a four-day banner-and-ring festival if the Dodgers end their title drought this fall.

Kershaw struck out six, giving him 301 in 289 1/3 career innings against the Giants.

Pence and Panik collected three hits apiece, while Tomlinson, Span and Austin Slater added two each for the Giants, who outhit the Dodgers 14-9.

Taylor then grounded to shortstop Tomlinson, who easily had Kershaw trying to advance to third. He allowed eight hits and two runs.

Kershaw had a limit of 100 pitches in his third start since returning from a lower back strain - and he was efficient, his night done instead after 91.

The Dodgers elevated the right-hander's pitch count in a hurry, with Cueto throwing 77 through three. The Dodgers batted around in the fourth, using two walks and five singles to scramble back, tying the score on Corey Seager's two-run line drive over the out-stretched reach of Panik at second.

Giants: Closer Mark Melancon, who joined the Giants in the offseason on a $62 million, four-year contract, had season-ending pronator surgery to solve his forearm injury. Melancon went 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA and 11 saves in 32 appearances and 30 innings this season.

Granderson has had a less than ideal start to his Dodger career and will most likely go in free agency as well.
