No amount of money could convince Liverpool to sell Coutinho — Klopp

11 Agosto 2017

Last month saw Liverpool reject Barcelona's £72m bid for Coutinho and Klopp later said the La Liga side could "save their energy" in their pursuit of the player.

"I think that - alongside a run into the latter stages of the Champions League and one of the domestic cups - would be a good season for him".

However, the Reds have so far rebuffed their advances with Jurgen Klopp determined to keep the Brazil international for at least one more year.

Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, has claimed that Liverpool have the upper hand, as Barcelona continue to chase the Reds' playmaker, Philippe Coutinho.

The respected outlet say a group from Barca flew over to Liverpool on Monday for detailed talks with Liverpool bosses after failing with two earlier bids for the player.

It's clear that not only does Jürgen Klopp value Coutinho very highly, the Brazilian is showing his class in the matter by not rocking the boat and forcing the matter in the way Fernando Torres did. He's got a back injury - many will doubt the timing of it - but he's been in Melwood every day to receive treatment on it.

The 18-year-old Liverpudlian said: 'I'm not sure whether I will get that opportunity but I am hoping to take it if I do get it. I will be fighting for that position, as will all the other lads. Barca are trying to sign Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho and Dembele, but have now seen bids rejected for both.

And speaking Sky Germany on Thursday morning, Klopp was emphatic in his rebuttal, saying "there is no price limit to let him go".

"I understand the owners don't want to sell, he's a little genius".

Given that Coutinho's contract doesn't include a release clause, Liverpool are under no pressure to sell and Barcelona cannot force the Reds to sell. That is set in stone. "We are not in that situation." .
